Hand Off the Headache.
Keep Your Focus.

Small business owners wear too many hats. Bookkeeping shouldn't be one of them. Here's what you gain when you let a professional handle it.

Your Time, Reclaimed

Stop losing evenings and weekends to reconciling accounts. Put those hours back into serving your customers, building your team, and doing the work you actually enjoy.

Nothing Falls Through the Cracks

Missed deductions, miscategorized expenses, late filings — these are expensive mistakes. Professional bookkeeping means your records are always accurate, current, and complete.

Tax Season Without the Panic

When your books are clean all year long, handing off to your tax preparer at tax time is simple. No scrambling, no cleanup fees, no surprises.

Answers When You Need Them

Wondering where your money is going? Need to know if you can afford to hire? Clean books give you the clarity to make smart decisions with confidence.

QuickBooks Online Setup & Management

As a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, Brian can set up your QuickBooks Online account from scratch, clean up an existing one, and manage it month to month. If you're already running QuickBooks, you'll get an expert who knows the platform inside and out — maximizing its features, connecting your accounts, and making sure your data is always accurate and current.

An FBI Agent's Eye for Your Finances.

Before starting Tava Bookkeeping, I spent 21 years as a Special Agent with the FBI, where my work centered on one thing: exposing crime, especially financial crimes. I investigated fraud, followed money trails, and built cases against people who thought their schemes were invisible. They weren't.

That career gave me something no accounting textbook can teach — a deep, firsthand understanding of what financial trouble actually looks like before it becomes a crisis. I've seen how small businesses inadvertently attract the attention of regulators and investigators. I've also seen what the well-run ones do differently.

I am also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), which means I bring the same rigor and professional standards to your books that I brought to federal investigations. This combination is rare. For small business owners, it means your finances are in the hands of someone who doesn't just count numbers — they understand exactly what those numbers mean and what they signal to the outside world.

Tava Bookkeeping exists specifically to serve small businesses — where every dollar matters. I keep things simple, transparent, and timely.

I've Seen What Gets Businesses Into Trouble — and What Keeps Them Safe.

Two decades of financial investigations taught me to recognize patterns. Here's what separates businesses that run into problems from those that never do.

Patterns That Attract Attention
  • Revenue inconsistent with the business type

Significant cash income that doesn't match industry norms is one of the first things investigators notice.

  • Missing or incomplete records

Gaps in documentation don't just look accidental — they look deliberate. Well-maintained books are your first line of defense.

  • Expenses that don't make sense

Personal spending mixed into business accounts, unusual vendor payments, and unexplained cash transactions are classic red flags.

  • No separation of financial duties

When one person controls every step of your finances, you are vulnerable — to employee fraud and to the appearance of impropriety.

Best Practices That Protect You
  • Clean, consistent monthly records

Businesses with organized, well-maintained books demonstrate good faith. If you're ever questioned, your records speak for you.

  • Clear separation of personal and business finances

A critical habit that keeps your books clean, your taxes simple, and your business legally protected.

  • Regular reconciliation and review

Monthly reconciliation catches errors and irregularities early — before small problems compound into serious ones.

  • Documented transactions and vendor relationships

Proper paperwork behind every payment makes audits routine and removes any room for misinterpretation.

"Working with Brian has been one of the best parts of running our own business. When starting our tree service my wife and I were totally overwhelmed by the logistics of owning our own business. There is so much to know and think about and bookkeeping felt so daunting. Once we found and started working with Tava Bookkeeping it was such a relief, we could sleep again!!! Brian isn't just a bookkeeper (although he's very good at that). He is a complete business partner offering advice and tips that proved invaluable as we grew. He's very on top of everything, and patient but persistent when he had to ask us multiple times for something. There are a few tools I would never dream of starting a business without and Tava is right at the top of that list. They truly are Utah's best bookkeeping service for small businesses."

"Over the past several years, I have worked with a few different bookkeeping services for my wedding venue and other businesses, and Tava is by far my top choice. The monthly reporting is consistently accurate and easy to understand, which has made it much easier to run the day-to-day. Just as important, it is clear the team behind the numbers is highly qualified, responsive, and genuinely cares about my business and doing things the right way. I would recommend Tava to any business owner looking for a knowledgeable and dependable bookkeeping partner who will simplify your finances and free you up to focus on growing the business."

★★★★★

"Tava Bookkeeping has been an absolutely indispensable necessity for our small business, one of the best decisions we've made! I wish there were more stars to give! Entrusting someone with your financial records requires a great deal of confidence. Brian is incredibly professional, punctual, and thorough in his work... not to mention consistently kind and patient when waiting for info on our end. I would recommend him to anyone looking for help — his work has given me so much peace of mind as business financials can feel quite overwhelming at times. He communicates information clearly — with integrity, accuracy and discretion. We are so grateful for his reliable expertise."
